Lebanese Sfeeha (Meat Pie)

Delicious savory pastries filled with a spiced mixture of ground beef or lamb, onions, and seasonings. They make for a perfect appetizer or snack and are popular in Lebanese cuisine.

Main Ingredients

2 cups RK Maida

1 cup warm water

300g ground beef or lamb

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp RK Cinnamon Powder

RK Arabic Masala

RK Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

To prepare the dough, in a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add the warm water and olive oil, mixing until a soft dough forms.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth.

Place the dough back in the bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rest while you prepare the filling.

To prepare the filling, in a skillet, heat 1 tbsp of olive oil over medium heat.

Add the finely chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until they become translucent.

Add the ground meat and cook until it's browned and fully cooked.

Stir in the ground cinnamon, ground allspice, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to incorporate the flavors. Remove the mixture from the heat and let it cool.

To assemble the meat pie, preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F).

Divide the dough into small, equal-sized balls, roughly the size of a walnut.

Roll out each dough ball into a thin, round circle (about 4-5 inches in diameter).

Place a spoonful of the cooled meat mixture in the center of each dough circle. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling to create a triangle or boat shape. Pinch the edges to seal the pies.

Arrange the shaped pies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the pies are golden brown.

Lebanese Sfeeha are best served warm. Enjoy these delicious meat pies as a snack, appetizer, or part of a meal.
